Plan your trips better

You can easily lower your fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by planning your trips in advance or combining them, when possible.

PLAN YOUR TRIPS
First, be aware that the most direct route isn’t necessarily the most energy-efficient one. When determining your route, consider roads that will allow you to maintain a constant speed and to avoid rush hour traffic. You should also listen to radio traffic reports and adjust your route if possible.

Another smart idea is to combine trips. Running many short errands can be costly since these increase your mileage and don’t allow your engine to reach its optimal operating temperature, which consumes more fuel. Doing all your errands in one trip increases the energy efficiency of your vehicle, reduces your mileage and saves time.

LIMIT BUSINESS-RELATED TRAVEL
A good way to keep you and your business associates off the roads is to hold phone or video conferences instead of in-person meetings. Your employer and your clients will save gas and lower their carbon footprint.
